What is Breathwork?

Breathwork is an active form of meditation that gets you out of flight or flight, calms and relaxes your nervous system.

Why do breathwork?

There are so many great reasons why everyone should be doing breathwork. From feeling anxious and stressed, to working through grief, healing trauma, mood disorders or for help with breathing issues like asthma, post covid/respiratory infection- just to name a few. Proper breathing mechanics also enhance athletic performance and may improve digestive disorders.

I can’t sit still for meditation, is this for me? This isn’t a traditional form of meditation where you try to quiet your mind, there is intentional movement involved.

I was surprised by how useful breathwork is for me on a daily basis, beyond just guiding my body to take deeper breaths naturally. There’s no way to express what a relief it is to feel like I can manage feelings of anger, anxiety, sadness and shame through the breathing exercises I learned.
This newfound stillness in my mind after I practice breathwork has let me get to a place where, for the first time, I can face painful memories head-on and let them go.
