Motor Point Acupuncture for better range of motion

What is a motor point?

A motor point is an area on a muscle where a minimal amount of electrical stimulation, with electro-acupuncture, will cause the muscle to contract.

Why is that important when treating pain?

Sometimes muscles aren’t tight from overuse, they’re tight and painful from underworking.

I once had a client who came in limping quite dramatically after a dance practice session. She was 30, had always been active in dance and at the gym. After I assessed her, I concluded that her gluteus medius (one of the hip stabilizer muscles) was underworking causing one side of her hip to drop quite low, making her limp. It was very painful and she had lower back pain along with it.

I treated her motor points with electro-acupuncture (which is completely painless) and she was able to walk out of our session walking normally again.

Motor point acupuncture

Motor point acupuncture is based on science and improves range of motion by allowing the muscle to return to it fully relaxed and extended state vs remaining contracted causing pain.
