I was in pain 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, for nearly a decade.
I used to run 5-8 miles, several days a week. It was my favorite way to decompress after a long day at the public relations agency I worked for. One day, my feet started hurting so bad that just walking for more than 15 minutes was too painful, never mind running, dancing or just socializing.
I went to see an orthopedic specialist and he told me I had plantar fasciitis. For the following 10 years I saw physical therapists, had massages, took powerful anti-inflammatories and wore kinesiology tape. I even tried weird socks meant to keep my feet in a certain angle. Nothing helped.
Then one day, a friend recommended I try acupuncture-I had tried everything else, so I figured why not?
It worked. Finally. I wasn't in pain anymore.
The first day I got acupuncture, I walked from 23rd and 10th deep into SoHo. Before that, it wouldn't have been possible. I finally got to enjoy a leisurely stroll in my favorite city.
In time, I knew I had to become an acupuncturist to help others feel good too.
